Our client, a respected and expanding organisation based in Durban, is looking to appoint a skilled Senior Technician to join their technical team. This role is ideal for an experienced individual with strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical knowledge who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and delivering excellent service to customers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out installations, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and technical support on a range of specialized equipment and systems. This position requires a proactive approach, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and servicing of equipment to ensure reliability and efficiency
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults
  • Conduct testing and inspections to verify equipment performance and functionality
  • Repair, replace, and install components and systems as required
  • Undertake equipment installations, modifications, and light fabrication work
  • Respond to service call-outs and breakdowns, providing effective on-site support
  • Maintain accurate service records, job reports, and technical documentation
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with customers through professional service delivery
  • Provide guidance and technical support to junior team members when required
  • Coordinate maintenance activities and ensure work is completed to quality standards
  • Safeguard and maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and company operational procedures
  • Assist with job planning, scheduling, and the execution of daily operational tasks
  • Support the successful delivery of installations and technical projects
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop and work environment
  • Perform effectively in a demanding, deadline-driven environment
  • Assist management with technical troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a strong commitment to teamwork

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a technical service, maintenance, or installation role
  • Qualified Auto-Electrician
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Excellent fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Willing to travel and attend breakdowns when required
  • Valid Code 8 driver’s license and own reliable transport
  • Good communication and customer service skills
